Chelsea have been without Edouard Mendy for the past two games against Tottenham and Aston Villa, with Kepa Arrizabalaga keeping in his stead.

Kepa had done well in the two games, as he kept a clean sheet against Spurs and was a penalty shootout hero against Villa.

However, every Chelsea fan would agree that we need Mendy back in goal against City. The Chelsea team will be expected to face massive pressure from Guardiola’s side, and the experience and confidence of Mendy will be needed at the back, as it will also rub off on the defenders.

Tuchel revealed before the game against Tottenham that Mendy took a huge hit in training and won’t feature against Spurs, as he aimed to have him back for the clash against Manchester City.

Tuchel said before the Villa game: “Mendy cannot play, he’s not in training so far.

“Our hope is to Integrate him back into individual training hopefully tomorrow and then team training later in the week.

“We will try to do everything we can for Saturday [vs Manchester City], but he’s not ready yet.”

Ahead of facing Manchester City on Saturday, Tuchel has now revealed that his first choice goalkeeper will be available for this game.

Tuchel told the media ahead of the game: “Edouard Mendy is fit from his injury. He is available and will start for us tomorrow.”
