Chelsea may have spent £97.5m on Romelu Lukaku, and his impact has been felt massively in the Chelsea team.
However, it’s not just about about the money spent on the Belgian, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed why his Chelsea side were successful last season and why they had to sign up Lukaku out of all the other targets.
Besides the physical prowess of the Belgian, Tuchel has revealed that the personality of the new Chelsea striker matches the team and that the Chelsea team has a strong bond with a friendly atmosphere in the dressing room, which was the bane of last season’s success.
“The very special thing about the first half-year we had was the strong bond and great atmosphere,” he said.
“We played like any amateur team out there, like a group of friends fighting through hard matches.
“That’s why we were very careful who to bring into the squad but Romelu is a big part of that now. He’s a humble guy and he loves what he’s doing so it’s an excellent fit.”
