Ben Chilwell has started just one of Chelsea’s opening seven Premier League games so far this term, with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel favouring Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back position this season.
The 24 year old England international played down his lack of playing time for Chelsea so far this season after scoring his first goal for England in their 5-0 win over Andorra.
Chilwell said: “These things happen in football.
“Everyone has periods in their career where things don’t go their way and you just have to make sure that you’re training hard and ready when that opportunity comes to take it and show that you should be playing.
“It’s very proud every time you put the shirt on and I just wanted to get on the pitch and give the gaffer a bit of a headache for the future games.”
