Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has hailed Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek for his massive improvement over the past few games.

Loftus-Cheek who was nearly out during the summer has now become a main player for Chelsea, and Ferdinand is backing him to keep turning out top performances.

Ferdinand also hailed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku despite his drop in form and backed him to pick back form after this rough patch.

“They’ve got a doggedness about them. Ruben Loftus-Cheek in that deep-lying position was magnificent. I want to see him there regularly,” Rio Ferdinand said in his Five YouTube channel.

“Lukaku ain’t scored in six games but they’re still winning games, they’re still looking like a team that are going to be capable of challenging. And there’s no doubt in my mind that he comes back and scores a hatful of goals. He’s just having a rough period, all strikers go through that.

“This Chelsea team are a hard nut to crack.”
