Former Manchester United and Tottenham forward Garth Crooks has admitted that he’s in awe of the Chelsea squad due to the amount of home-grown talents in the team.
Andreas Christensen, Reece James, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi are all players from the academy, and they are currently doing well at the club.
The Chelsea academy has been producing top talents in recent years, with Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori having recently left the club for playing opportunities. Tariq Lamptey and Timo Livramento are former academy starlets who are impressing elsewhere too.
Crooks said: “I’m in awe of a Chelsea squad that is producing some amazing home-grown talent.
“Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and without doubt the jewel in the crown, James. There was a time, not so long ago, when English players couldn’t get a game in the Premier league. Not anymore.
“The Premier League academy system seems to be working and that took major investment. Norwich please take note.”
