German duo Kai Havertz and Timo Werner joined Chelsea last summer in big money moves from the Bundesliga.

Havertz and Werner had established themselves in the German league and were buzzing names in the Bundesliga.

However, they had to redefine themselves in the Premier League. The duo cost the club well over £100m, but the journey in their new terrain hasn’t been easy.

Germany boss Hansi Flick has however seen the bright side of things and has admitted that signing for Chelsea has made Havertz and Werner better players.

He said: “(Timo Werner) can be very satisfied with his development at Chelsea.

“He’s well on his way there, but Chelsea have a team where it’s not easy to play. Kai Havertz is just finding out, they are (a) top team and of enormous quality.”

Flick added: “In your career it is always the case that you have to go through these valleys. My aim is that everyone, when they look back, can say: ‘I’ve done a lot of things right’.”
