The international break usually comes with one scare for club managers, and that is to have all their players return back to the club injury free.
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has now pulled out of Belgium’s squad ahead of their Nations League third-placed playoff against Italy on Sunday.
Lukaku was in fine form for Belgium on Thursday evening, as he scored their second goal in their 3-2 defeat to France in the Nations League semi-final clash.
Lukaku seems to have suffered a knock in that game and did not take part in Saturday’s training session with the rest of his Belgium teammates.
Belgium’s Football Association has now confirmed that the Chelsea striker is no longer with the rest of the team at the team’s training base, as of on Saturday afternoon.
The state of the injury is yet to be ascertained, and Lukaku is now a doubt for next weekend’s clash against Brentford.
