“It wasn’t about talent” – former Chelsea coach reveals why Mourinho sold De Bruyne and Salah

Former Chelsea coach Eddie Newton, who was in charge of loan players, has revealed why former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sold Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.

According to Newton, De Bruyne and Salah saw their Chelsea careers cut short due to a ‘personality clash’ with then-boss Mourinho.

“I think Salah and De Bruyne wasn’t about talent,” Newton told Goal.

“It was a personality clash [with Jose Mourinho]. I just didn’t think it was working at the time.”

“I think they were more than good enough,” Newton added, “but it was the manager who didn’t see eye-to-eye with them, so it wasn’t going to work.”
