Reece James had scored a brace already for the Blues when Chelsea got awarded a penalty following a foul on Kai Havertz.
Several Chelsea fans expected James to step up and take the penalty to complete his hat-trick against Newcastle United but Jorginho, who is Chelsea’s designated penalty taker, took the penalty instead.
Jorginho has now revealed why he took the penalty against Newcastle United instead of Reece James.
Speaking with ESPN Brazil after the game, Jorginho says James he didn’t ask to take a penalty.
“If he had asked, we would have had a conversation but he didn’t, he came to support me,” the midfielder said.
