Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek made his second Premier League start of the season as his resurgence under Thomas Tuchel continues.

The Chelsea academy graduate was one of Chelsea’s best players on the pitch in the hard-fought 1-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday evening.

Loftus-Cheek completed 5 dribbles against Brentford, the most by any player on the pitch. He also had the most touches of the ball (101), won the most fouls (5) and also won the most ground duels (12).

Speaking to the club’s website, Loftus-Cheek detailed what he can offer to the team. According to the 25-year-old, one of his strength is his ability to beat the press with his body.

He said: “When the [opposition] pressing is intense, it’s very difficult. I have to use my body and be aware of what’s around me — I feel I’m quite good at that.

“Sometimes, I can beat the pressing by myself, and it’s a big advantage for the team [as] we have overload to go forward.

“It’s a position where you have to be safe a lot of the time, dictate the play. It’s hard sometimes because I want to run with [the ball] a lot more, but I have to be disciplined in this role.

“But I enjoy it either way!”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
