According to reliable BILD Journalist Christian Falk, Mega-rich Premier League side Newcastle United are interested in signing Chelsea striker Timo Werner.
With Romelu Lukaku signing for Chelsea for a club-record fee in August, Werner has seen his game time under Thomas Tuchel become limited and he has admitted his frustrations.
The report claims Newcastle United are already in contact with the agent of Werner who is also the agent of Newcastle defender Fabian Schar.
Werner only joined the Blues from RB Leipzig last summer, but has failed to show his best form so far in the Premier League.
Newcastle United are now the wealthiest club in the world after a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium complete their £300million takeover of the Tyneside-based outfit last week.
However, Tuchel has backed Werner to still come good at the Blues and suggested he could play alongside Lukaku in the Chelsea team.
“Timo can play with Romelu, he did very well at Tottenham,” Tuchel said towards the end of last month.
“That gave us a clear impression of how dangerous these two can also be together. There was some disappointment to brush off his shoulders from the Euros during the summer.
“And from the first games I think he was not happy with the performances in the beginning. We know that he can be much more dangerous and much more of an attacking threat than he was.
“But in the last training sessions he’s been more relaxed, more fluid in his movements, and showing more confidence.
“And that’s why we put him on early against Tottenham, because we saw this development and there are clear signs that he is on a good way. And I hope he can show and prove it tomorrow.”
