Chelsea strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner went off injured in the first half of the Champions League clash against Malmo on Wednesday night.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that the duo will be out for a while and will definitely miss the games against Norwich this weekend and against Southampton in midweek.

Football pundit Paul Merson has said that Tuchel now only has one option upfront which is Kai Havertz, and he believes Havertz can do the job.

“Thomas Tuchel might opt to play Kai Havertz upfront – I can’t think of anyone else who could play in that position,” Merson wrote for Sportskeeda.

“Suddenly, you look at Chelsea and think they are a little bit short in attack, but this is a good game for Havertz to make his opportunity count.

“He isn’t an out-and-out centre-forward, but this is an easy game for Chelsea so it won’t matter.”

Thankfully, Chelsea have enough firepower in the flanks and Havertz can play as a false nine. So no cause for alarm.
