Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is already 30 and it’s normal for the Blues to start identifying players that can replace the France international in the long-term.
One player Chelsea have identified as a long-term replacement for Kante in midfield is Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
The 21 year old Monaco midfielder filled in for Kante in France’s midfield as they won the Nations League during the international break.
Tchouameni played the full 90 minutes as France fought back from a goal down against Spain to win the tournament for the first time.
The Blues aren’t the only top club interested in signing the France international. According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Real Madrid have identified the 21-year-old France international as a key target for next summer’s window.
Just as Chelsea view Tchouameni as a long-term replacement for Kante, Real Madrid view the Monaco midfielder as a long-term replacement for Casemiro.
Tchouameni has played 15 times for Monaco this season, scoring twice. He has five caps for France.
