According to media outlet Calcio Mercato via Goal, Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger fell down the pecking order under former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard but has become an important player for the Blues in Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-3 system.

Rudiger’s Chelsea contract will expire at the end of the season and the Germany international will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any potential suitors in January if he doesn’t sign a new Chelsea contract by December.

Real Madrid see Rudiger as the perfect player to help strengthen Carlo Ancelotti’s defence and are ready to match his wage demands as he will arrive as a free agent.

Rudiger reportedly earns around £100,000 a week at Chelsea and wants double what he currently earns but some reports have claimed Real Madrid are ready to offer £400,000 a week for the defender.
