According to Spanish outlet ABC via Daily Mail, Spanish club Real Madrid believe Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger is the ideal candidate to fill the void left by the departures of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos, and have made him their ‘No 1 priority’ for next year.
Ramos left Real Madrid for French club Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer during the summer while Varane joined Premier League rivals Manchester United for £36million.
Real Madrid are keen on bolstering their defensive options next summer and have identified Rudiger as a top target after conceding 10 goals in just 8 games this season.
Rudiger has developed into a key player under Thomas Tuchel but his Chelsea contract will expire at the end of the season. The Blues are yet to reach an agreement with the 28 year old over a contract extension.
Rudiger joined Chelsea from Roma in the summer of 2017 for £31.5 million and was instrumental in the Blues’ Champions League triumph last season and has hit the ground running this year.
The 28 year old German international has also won two FA Cups, the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup since joining Chelsea.
Rudiger is also wanted by German champions Bayern Munich.
