Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, looked certain to be heading towards the Chelsea exit this summer but has managed to turn things around at Chelsea this season.

The 25-year-old seemed to be a threat in an attacking midfield position and also played in that role for Fulham last season.

However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has deployed Loftus-Cheek in a deeper role as he plays in a double pivot system.

According to the Athletic, Loftus-Cheek relishes a chance to play a more withdrawn role, and he enjoys the position because he has more space to run into if he plays deeper.

Loftus-Cheek is glad to be back in the team and just wants to play football. The report claims he is eager to finally find a position that fits him the best and does not want to be moved around the pitch.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has hailed Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a special player and can’t believe the midfielder hasn’t played more for Chelsea.

Tuchel told Loftus-Cheek: “You are special. I cannot believe you haven’t played more for Chelsea.”
