Revealed: Why Tuchel had to name two goalkeepers on the bench in the absence of Mason Mount

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel currently has a depleted squad in the absence of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic in attack.

Matters were even made worse as recent hat-trick hero Mason Mount was also excluded from the team to face the Magpies.

Mount will miss the game at the St James Park through illness, as he can’t be available for today’s fixture.

Surprisingly, Tuchel had to settle for two goalkeepers on the bench as he couldn’t name another outfield player through injury. The squad is quite thin for today’s game, and Tuchel will be hoping for a fine performance nevertheless.

The Blues boss has managed to put up a strong squad. See the team below

Chelsea: Mendy, Christensen, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, James, Kante, Jorginho, Chilwell, Ziyech, Hudson-Odoi, Havertz.

Subs: Arrizabalaga, Alonso, Loftus-Cheek, Bettinelli, Chalobah, Saul, Barkley, Azpilicueta, Sarr.

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
