The Ballon d’Or award for this year is definitely causing many arguments.

Robert Lewandowski was without a doubt the best player by a mile last year, but this year’s award has generated mixed reaction. Some camp believes Chelsea’s Jorginho deserves it for his exploit in Europe, while some are backing Lionel Messi. Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski are also among the contenders.

However, legendary Manchester United boss sir Alex Ferguson has backed Cristiano Ronaldo to win the award this year due to the records he broke.

Speaking to the media about the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony, Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Cristiano Ronaldo deserves it. This year, he has broken record after record.”

Ronaldo recently broke the record for most international goals and also scored his 10th international hat-trick in Portugal’s 5-0 win over Luxembourg, which is also a record by any player, but it may not be enough for him to win the award.
