Chelsea paid £97.5m to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.
The Belgian wasn’t the only striker to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski also got into the Chelsea rumours at the time. However, it was Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland that actually earned the most interest from Chelsea.
For all of Chelsea’s interest in Haaland, Dortmund weren’t interested in selling.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has now revealed that despite the signing of Lukaku, the club could still make a move for Haaland, and he talked about a possible Lukaku and Haaland partnership upfront.
When asked if he could see Haaland arriving at Chelsea to play alongsidde Lukaku, Tuchel told SportBild: “You mean playing Lukaku and Haaland together? I have no problem to talk about that!
“I don’t think we’ve been really serious about it yet, but let’s see what will happen in the next few weeks.”
