New Barcelona boss Xavi reportedly wants the Spanish side to sign Chelsea left wing-back Marcos Alonso.

This comes after Barcelona confirmed on Friday that they have re-signed former player Dani Alves, who will be part of the Barcelona squad for the rest of the season.

According to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo via Metro, after strengthening the right flank, Xavi now wants to strengthen Barcelona’s left flank by signing Alonso from Chelsea to provide competition for Jordi Alba.

Alonso has made almost 200 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Fiorentina in 2016, winning the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup during his spell at Stamford Bridge.

Xavi revealed during his unveiling as Barcelona manager that he wants to make the Spanish side great again and he believes Alonso is needed in Barcelona.
