Former Chelsea star snubs Jorginho for Ballon d’Or

Chelsea fans are hopeful Jorginho can win the Ballon d’Or award this year after his stunning season for club and country.

The Chelsea midfielder won the Champions League and European Championship with Chelsea and Italy, and he played a starring role in both victories.

For some, it has to be Jorginho. However, former Chelsea star Gus Poyet has rather Liverpool star Mohamed Salah over usual suspects Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and Jorginho also didn’t make his cut for the Ballon d’Or award.

“Certainly, you cannot vote for [Lionel] Messi or [Cristiano] Ronaldo in the Ballon d’Or, perhaps Mbappe or Salah, but the latter certainly is the best,” Poyet told Al-Hayah TV.

“His [Salah’s] influence in matches is better than Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mbappe, even if he does not score.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
