Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has been hailed by his national team boss Gregg Berhalter for his ability to arrive into the box at the right time.

The 23-year-old who has been out injured since September only made a return to playing, and marked his return to the US team with a crucial goal.

Berhalter’s side has been struggling to come up with the goods in the final third, until the introduction of Pulisic. The Chelsea star came on in the 69th minute of the game and scored just five minutes after coming on, as he showed great awareness to get the first goal for his country.

Speaking after the game, US head coach Gregg Berhalter hailed Pulisic for his ability to arrive at the opposition box.

“Definitely part of the plan was to think about how much he can play at the intensity that we needed in this game,” Berhalter said about Pulisic in his post-match press conference.

“When I spoke to him before the camp, his mindset was, ‘I just want to come in and help the team.’

“Part of his quality we know he has is arriving in the penalty box.

“He does that really well, and this was another example of his arriving with speed and being able to get the goal and turn the game.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
