Chelsea strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner seemed to have been forming a relationship upfront just before the international break.

Lukaku and Timo Werner went off injured in the first half of the Champions League clash against Malmo last month and they haven’t returned to action ever since.

The injured duo are set to return to action after the international break, but will have to compete with Kai Havertz who has played as striker in their absence.

Has the German done enough to replace the duo after a shaky start to his season where he seemed to have struggled at the start of the campaign?

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is pleased with Havertz contribution so far and believes he has been unlucky at times.

“He has had some good matches with the ball and off it as well, bringing huge effort when we have the ball. I like what he is playing at the moment, I can see and feel how hard he fights for the teams and what effort he puts in,” Tuchel said.

“He is a bit unlucky at the moment. He won a penalty at Newcastle, today had two chances to score. But the last games I am very happy with his performances and the effort.”
