With Antonio Rudiger stalling on extending his Chelsea contract which expires at the end of the season, Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement to sign his replacement.
According to Football London, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Turkish club Fenerbahce to sign Hungarian defender Attila Szalai as a potential Antonio Rudiger replacement.
The 22 year old centre-back has previously been labelled the Hungarian Virgil Van Dijk and here is what fans on Twitter think of the Hungarian international:
@LampardsLegacy asked: “What’s happened here then.”
@NLisewsky questioned: “how good is this guy?”
@EMG_28 replied with what he knows of the 23-year-old: “I like him a lot but don’t think he’s ready. Lot of times he gets caught out, although it may be due to the system and his playing style. Ridiculous ball playing cb still.”
@IbzSpeaks admitted: “I have no idea who he is but we’ve signed a lot of great players that were unknown in the past. I hope he’s one of them if this rumour is true.”
@aymlangford pointed out: “If this is true then Rudiger is leaving.”
@Skarra24o concluded: “Looks like rudiger is leaving in January.”
@wheezy_khiddy analysed: “I just checked on his world cup qualifications performance with Hungary and all I can say is he’s kinda decent player, if only he really will hit the ground running in the Premier League!!”
@HarryChelsea__ optimistically pointed out: ‘When Chelsea signed Mendy. Nobody trusted but now everybody is singing his praise.’
Even rival fans are singing the praises about the player in question. Fenerbahce and Arsenal fan @OzilThings wrote: “He’s so good, not even joking. Was hoping he would stay until end of this season but I’m happy he’s getting his big move at least.”
@necoofb40 followed this up: “Believe me when I say that you’re signing a top top talent. He’s like a left-footed VVD, fast, can build from the back, great aerial presence, can score you goals from dead balls, can also play as a left back.”
