Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel believes this is a bad moment for Chelsea star Ben Chilwell following his injury in Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over Juventus on Tuesday night.
Tuchel confirmed Ben Chilwell has suffered a partial ACL injury and Chelsea will wait six weeks to see if he needs surgery.
Chilwell started the season as back-up to Marcos Alonso before eventually forcing his way into the starting XI. He has been a standout performer in the last two months, scoring four times for club and country this season.
“There is never a good moment for big injuries and injuries in general,” Tuchel said.
“This for him personally is a very bad moment because he was so involved, so good and so full of confidence. Was a huge part in our performances, in our victories over the last weeks so it’s a shame.
“We are very sad. He is actually in the moment very positive. I just spoke to him some minutes ago.
“He is very positive because his body reacts very positive to the first treatment and to the injury so after a while you have to refocus and you have to focus on the positive things which is now the next weeks and to do everything that is possible that he can come back on the pitch and help us again. He will come back strong. I’m sure about it.”
