Everyone is waiting for the end of November to know who will be crowned the Ballon d’Or winner for the year 2021.

The likes of Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi and Jorginho are seen as the favourites for this year’s award. However, former Juventus manager, Marcello Lippi, has named Jorginho as the rightful player that should win this year’s Ballon d’ Or award.

The Italy international played a starring role in the middle of the park to help his teams win the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Euro 2020. He was also crowned UEFA best player.

Jorginho missed a penalty in Italy’s World Cup qualifier, in a 1-1 draw with Switzerland, and Lippi thinks it doesn’t matter as he’s deserving of the award for all his exploits last season.

“Despite the mistake from the penalty spot yesterday [Italy vs Switzerland], I would give it [Ballon d’Or 2021] to Jorginho,” 37-year-old Lippi told TMW.

“He has won everything and when one wins everything, it’s right that he gets this recognition.

“There are great champions who have won little or nothing, then champions who have won everything and must be rewarded.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
