The Blues are reportedly interested in signing Juventus Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt should as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger.
Rudiger has stalled on signing a new Chelsea contract with his current contract expiring at the end of the season and the Blues have identified De Ligt as a suitable replacement.
Ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash between Chelsea and Juventus at Stamford Bridge, De Ligt has admitted playing at Stamford Bridge is a great thrill.
“Playing at Stamford Bridge is a great thrill,” De Ligt said, via the official Juventus website. “Tomorrow we have to be compact, Chelsea are a strong team on the counterattack.
“[Romelu] Lukaku is a great player, who makes the difference; but Chelsea, even without him, remains one of the strongest teams in Europe. The first leg match was good, for me and for the group – we played with maturity and passion.”
