Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is in the final year of his contract, and with just few months to go, Rudiger could leave Chelsea for free at the end of the season.

Rudiger, 28, currently earns £100k a week, and for his calibre, those figures do not seem too pleasing.

Rudiger is seen as one of the best defenders in the world at the moment, and he earns lower than many upcoming players.

According to reports, Chelsea have offered Rudiger a deal around the region of €8.5M-a-year (which comes out to just over £150k a week).

Reports also claim that Bayern Munich are willing to offer the Chelsea centre-back a deal worth €12M-a-year (about £220k a week).

Rudiger and Chelsea seem to be far from each other as regards a new contract, and a Chelsea fan has pointed out that the German’s salary is too low compared to Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, who isn’t up to the standard of the Chelsea defender.

A Chelsea fan on Tribuna made a striking revelation as he said: “I hate to admit but I am with Rudiger on this one.. it’s annoying to think that Harry Maguire earns more than Rudiger!

“Chelsea should learn to keep its own. Yes, no player is bigger than the club.. but the players who play for Chelsea are who the fans love year in year out.

“Look at Real Madrid and Barcelona.. losing their players and still singing that the club is big.. honestly, are those clubs big right now? They are struggling to keep a reputation.

“If Chelsea keeps on with this contract situation with players, I won’t be surprised if we lose many of them to the likes of Madrid and Barcelona who clearly needs big players at the moment.”
