Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez moved to City from Leicester City in 2018, and the Algerian has been a quality player for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Algerian who has scored 8 goals in 8 starts this season for City in all competitions, has hailed Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery as two of his biggest heroes in football.

Blues legend Didier Drogba is seen as an African legend, and having scored over 350 goals for club and country, Mahrez holds the Ivorian in high esteem.

Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, Mahrez was asked about the moment he met his idol- and he gave two names.

“I used to love Drogba and Ribery,” the winger answered.

“I never met them when I was young, when I was a teenager, but I met them when I made it in football, the Premier League and stuff. And I always tell them that I was their fan, and they’re laughing, so it’s good, you know?”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
