Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has explained his decision not to play Chelsea duo Reece James and Ben Chilwell against Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The duo have been impressive for Chelsea in recent weeks with James scoring a brace in Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday.

It’s a tough one because they have been so decisive. It is an intense position, you saw how much they invested with a lot of sprints,” Tuchel said.

“We have a lot of matches. At the same time we have good guys from behind so we can keep the same intensity levels hopefully up high in these positions and let Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta start.”

Hakim Ziyech converted a brilliant cross from Callum Hudson-Odoi to score the only goal of the game as Chelsea beat Malmo 1-0 in Sweden on Tuesday night.
