‘We won’t put on a show for him’ — Tuchel sends message to Roman Abramovich ahead of his return to Stamford Bridge for Juventus clash

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been unable to watch games at Stamford Bridge for the past three years due to his visa issues with the UK government, that ensured he was unable to visit UK since 2018.

The Russian is set to make a return to the Bridge for Tuesday’s crucial Champions League clash with Juventus, that could determine who tops the group, and the Chelsea boss is not keen on impressing the club owner.

According to Tuchel, with or without Roman Abramovich in the executive box at Stamford Bridge, his team will always try to win a game.

“Do we put on a show for him? No,” Tuchel responded, when asked if he’d put on a show for the Chelsea owner on Sunday.

“Our show is the basics, and we give our very best if the owner is here or if he’s not here, because if he’s not here I know he will watch us closely.

“We put on a show on a daily basis and by show, I mean hard work to make him happy and to entertain him and all our supporters in the stadium.

“Tomorrow is a big game. It’s a tough game. We need everybody in the stadium full on. We need ourselves to be on top level. If he’s there we are super happy but it does not change what we do.”
