Chelsea have been struggling with a number of injuries recently, with the likes of Ben Chilwell, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Trevoh Chalobah all sidelined.
Marcos Alonso recently joined the injury list, while Jorginho has been playing with a hip injury. Romelu Lukaku only just made a return from injury and isn’t match fit according to the Chelsea boss.
It’s in the middle of the park where Chelsea have been most hit by injuries, and with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour thriving on loan, Thomas Tuchel is currently left with limited options.
However, there is a massive boost for Chelsea in the middle of the park, as Croatia international Kovacic is finally on the verge of a return. The Croatian has missed Chelsea’s last eight games with a hamstring injury suffered in the last minute of a training session in October, but he’s now set for a return to action, in training at least.
Chelsea have missed the brilliance of Kovacic in midfield and we surely can’t wait to have him back and fully fit.
