According to Eurosport via Metro, Chelsea hope to exploit Juventus’ financial problems this summer by signing Matthijs De Ligt for a bargain fee.
The Dutchman joined Juventus from Ajax in 2019 in a deal worth £74million but could leave the Italian side next year as the pandemic has negatively impacted on the finances of Juventus.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side are currently outside the top four and will be forced to sell a number of their prized assets if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Chelsea are reportedly yet to make contact with Juventus about signing the 22 year old centre-back but are monitoring his situation at the club.
With the contracts of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta expiring at the end of the season, the Blues are keen on signing a centre-back.
