Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has impressed on loan at Premier League side Crystal Palace and there have been talks about the midfielder returning to Chelsea in January.
However, the Blues will be unable to bring back Gallagher in January even if Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants him in his squad.
According to Daily Mail, Chelsea cannot recall Gallagher in January because the midfielder has played over 50 per cent of Crystal Palace’s matches so far.
Chelsea inserted a recall clause in Gallagher’s loan deal to Palace last summer but it can only be activated if the midfielder plays less than 50 per cent of the games during the first half of the season.
So far, Gallagher has played in 16 of Crystal Palace’s 17 games this season. The only game Gallagher missed is Crystal Palace 3-0 defeat to Chelsea because he was ineligible to play against his parent club.
The 21-year-old, however, is expected to return to Chelsea next summer with a view to integrating him into the first-team at Stamford Bridge.
