It wasn’t an easy game at the Vicarage Road as Chelsea defeated Watford 2-1 away from home.
The Hornets gave a good account of themselves in front of their home fans, but Thomas Tuchel’s side fought hard to get the three points.
See the player ratings for this game:
Mendy: Good anticipation to deny Cleverley with a block as he came off the line to save the team. Made some good saves. 7/10
Azpilicueta: Seemed to have struggled in this game. The Spaniard seemed quite rusty and was taken off with 20 minutes to go. 5/10
Chalobah: Assured at back and he did okay in his third start in a row. Was having a good time on the pitch until an injury late on. 7/10
Christensen: Decent performance from the Dane. Chelsea were better in the second half after the introduction of Thiago Silva. 6/10
Rudiger: Would feel be should have done better for Watford’s goal. Other than that, he was impressive. 6/10
Alonso: Was targeted in the first half and much of Watford’s attacking moves came from his wing. Played a key role in Mount’s opening goal. 6/10
Loftus-Cheek: Gave the ball away poorly in the build up to Watford’s equaliser. Lost the ball many times in the middle of the pitch. Had some good spells, but didn’t seem to be at his best in this game. 5.5/10
Saul: Subbed off yet again at half-time, as he couldn’t dominate the middle of the park. It didn’t work out too well for him. 5/10
Mount: Had a very good game as he seems to have built up his confidence. Hit the woodwork in the first half, and that sparked a lot of boost to the Chelsea team. Assured game from the young midfielder. 8/10
Pulisic: Looked lively and had to settle in the right wing-back position later in the game. 7/10
Havertz: Had a good game. Did well to set Mason Mount for his goal. 7/10
Thiago Silva: Came on at half-time as he brought stability to the defence and midfield with his organisation skills 8/10
Ziyech: Was rested for this game, but when it seemed to be a tough match, he was brought in, and he helped the team with a fine performance and a goal.
Lukaku: Late sub for Cesar Azpilicueta.
