Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has been out injured since the 4-0 win over Juventus back in November, and there were hopes that he’d return before the end of the season.
Chilwell was in superb run of form until he suffered a major setback against Juventus when he had to be subbed off.
Chelsea had hoped that the 25-year-old would not need to have surgery, but the England International has now been ruled out for the rest of the season. Chelsea FC have confirmed that Chilwell will undergo knee surgery in a bid to return to training in time ahead of the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

However, reports claim Lyon will block Chelsea’s attempt to call back the Italy international, as Chelsea do not have a clause to recall the left-back.
According to Goal, Lyon have blocked Chelsea’s attempts to recall the the Italy international and with no break clause in the deal the Blues will have to explore other options.
