Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen is reportedly on the verge of signing a new deal with the club.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Christensen will put pen to paper on a new four-year contract. The agreement will include an option to extend it for another year.

Christensen’s current Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season and Chelsea run a risk of losing him on free transfer if he doesn’t extend his contract.

Spanish side Barcelona were reportedly interested in signing Christensen as a free agent but they have now switched their attention to other targets following Christensen’s decision to extend his stay at Chelsea.
