Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount was among the five Blues player to make the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Mount made the cut along with Cesar Azpilicueta, Romelu Lukaku, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
The 22-year-old ended up in an impressive 19th place, and was the second ranked player from the England squad, only behind Raheem Sterling who came in 15th.
A proud Mount took to social media to reveal how glad he was to make it to the top 20.
He wrote on social media: “#19. An honour to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or award.”
Many football stars commented on Mount’s post, including Britain’s most expensive signing Jack Grealish, who commented: “Jheeeeze Man in the whistle n flute… Fully deserved brother,” Grealish said on Instagram.
Mount had previously revealed how proud he was to make the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist.
“To see my name alongside the names I’ve looked up to all my life is crazy, Messi in particular,” the midfielder told GQ Magazine.
“When I was younger I was a ball boy during a Barcelona and Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge and seeing him up close was amazing.”
