Chelsea have today confirmed that Ben Chilwell has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Chilwell had been out injured since the Champions League clash against Juventus, and Chelsea had hoped that the 25-year-old would not need to have surgery, but we brought reports earlier today that Ben Chilwell will miss the rest of the season and will undergo knee surgery in a bid to return to training in time ahead of the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
Chelsea Football Club has now released an official statement about Ben Chilwell, confirming that he’d be operated on.
Currently, Marcos Alonso is the only senior team player who can fill in as a left wing-back, and the club will have to sign a new left-back in January.
According to Di Marzio, Chelsea is considering the possibility of recalling one of the two full-backs Chelsea have sent out on loan.
Emerson Palmieri is currently at Lyon while youngster Ian Maatsen has impressed at Coventry City, and the Blues are considering either of the two.
Do you think Chelsea should recall the more experienced Emerson or the rising star Maatsen?
