Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta was disappointed after the game between Chelsea and Brighton. The Blues played out a 1-1 draw with Brighton, as Chelsea was punished by a late Danny Welbeck goal.

After the disappointing draw, Azpilicueta issued a rallying call to his teammates and urged that they start the new year on a brighter note.

“We left a few injuries behind, and the Covid situation, and a few points on the road where we could have managed to get them – that punishes you,” Azpilicueta said after making his 450th Chelsea appearance.

“The Premier League is the toughest league in the world, and every opponent is very difficult, but when you don’t get the three points it’s very disappointing.

“We want to win games and hopefully we can give our fans a good start to the new year in front of the fans here against Liverpool. It is a tough moment, but we need to stick together and dig in. It is not an easy situation but this is how we have to overcome these difficult moments.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
