Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed plans to play Saul Niguez as a left wing-back after his struggles in midfield against Watford on Wednesday.
Saul was taken off at half-time after struggling with the physicality of Watford in midfield.
Tuchel said when asked of his player’s form and future: “He’s still adapting, he had a yellow card and was a bit shy to play all-in in duels.
“We lacked physicality as he didn’t want to risk a red card [against Watford] which was a good thing. I think he could play in a wing-back role for us.
“He’s very strong in arriving in the box, finishing and timing, and arriving on second ball. He could be a good fit. In the next games we may have to try it as Chilly is out long-term.”
