Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has seen nearly half his first team squad unavailable for selection for either covid or injury related troubles.

Chelsea had urged the Premier League to postpone the league game against Wolves, as Thomas Tuchel revealed that seven players in his squad were unavailable due to Covid but the Premier League rejected Chelsea’s request to postpone Sunday’s goalless draw.

With games set to go on, Tuchel has decided to include up to eight youth players to join the first team training.

Ahead of Wednesday’s League Cup clash with Brentford, including Harvey Vale, Josh Brooking, Alfie Gilchrist, Dion Rankine, Xavier Simons, Joe Haigh, Jay Wareham and Lewis Hall all took part of the first team training.

The likes of Ross Barkley, Malang Sarr and Kepa Arrizabalaga were also involved in training, as Tuchel will try to rotate his squad for this ahead of Sunday’s clash against Aston Villa.

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
