Chelsea fan ExpectedChelsea has urged Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to sign a successor for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
He insists Kante is an important Chelsea player but can’t play regularly for the Blues anymore due to fitness issues which means the Blues need to sign a player with the defensive IQ of Kante.
ExpectedChelsea tweeted: “We desperately need Kante to return. He’s great at a lot of things but what we miss the most is his defensive IQ around the box.
“Check where our midfielders were for Bowen’s goal and you’ll understand. It’s not really their fault they’re not as good as Kante but we miss him.
“The thing is even if Kante is back he won’t be able to play 2 matches a week anymore. Looks like the age is slowly getting to him. We really need to think about the future and go for players like Tchouaméni next summer.
“We leverage Kante’s strengths a lot – as we should – but it means we’re very exposed when he doesn’t play against good teams. We need to get him fit more often while also starting our succession planning now.
“Kante has long held our midfield together but we’re relying on him too much. He’s better than ever in terms of skill but he’s not the same guy he was in 2016 – He can’t play 35 league games a year.
“It doesn’t mean we should sell him but we should get someone to be his successor.”
The Blues continue to be linked with West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
