According to reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, German side Bayern Munich and Spanish side Barcelona are strongly interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen.

The 25-year-old has been a key player for the Blues during the 2021-22 campaign, making 21 appearances in all competitions, but his contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of June.

The Blues have so far been unable to reach an agreement with the Denmark international and could the centre-back as a free agent to Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

Romano tweeted: “Andreas Christensen situation. Barcelona and FC Bayern are both strongly interested in signing him – club sources confirm.

“Chelsea proposal still on the table but there’s no agreement. Nothing has changed.

“Final decision to be made soon.”

Christensen, who spent two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach between 2015 and 2017 as part of his development, has made 148 appearances for the Blues since debuting in 2013.

Meanwhile, Christensen scored his first Chelsea goal ever at the 137th time of asking in the 4-0 Champions League victory over Malmo.

“It was a proud moment, a big moment,” said Christensen to the official Chelsea website. “I have waited nine years for this and now it has happened. It was a very nice moment for me personally, but it wouldn’t have been worth it if we didn’t win, so that’s the most pleasing.

“I am very happy for my goal. Hopefully it doesn’t take that long again to add a second!”
