Chelsea have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule.
According to German media outlet Bild via The Sun, Sule prefers a move to Chelsea with the centre-back keen on playing in the Premier League.
He is thought to also be a target of Barcelona and is hesitant to sign a new deal at Bayern amid interest from across Europe’s elite clubs.
It’s understood contract talks regarding an extension between Sule and Bayern continue to stall, meaning he can leave on a free transfer in the summer.
Chelsea could sign the German international as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger or Andreas Christensen, who are yet to extend their Chelsea contracts.
Sule has played 156 times for Bayern since moving to the German giants in 2017, and has been capped by Germany 37 times.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea centre-back William Gallas expects Christensen to leave at the end of the season.
Gallas said: “I don’t know what is going on with Christensen.
“I don’t know if Chelsea are happy with his performances, but he’s still young. They didn’t extend his contract, so it looks like they are looking to replace him.
“It is a really difficult situation because Christensen is still young, but it’s not looking good for him to stay at the club.”
