Brazilian leaves Flamengo for Chelsea as replacement for injured Ben Chilwell

According to The Sun, Chelsea have recalled Kenedy from his loan spell at Brazilian club Flamengo as replacement for injured left-back Ben Chilwell.

Chilwell has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in the 4-0 Champions League victory over Juventus.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel had preferred Emerson Palmieri to be recalled from his loan spell at Lyon but the Blues have so far being unsuccessful as there isn’t a recall clause in his loan deal.

The 25 year old Kenedy joined Chelsea for £6million in 2015 but has completed Premier League loans at Watford and Newcastle and stints in Spain at Getafe and Granada.

The Brazilian has made just 15 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, with his last coming in 2016.

Kenedy has impressed in 10 appearances for Flamengo, who won the Brazilian title last season.

And the Brazilian side were said to be desperate to hold on to the wing-back and tried to prevent Chelsea recalling him, according to reports in Brazil.

Flamengo had the option to buy Kenedy at the end of his loan deal and had to signal in December if they intended to do but failed to contact Chelsea.

There also remains the possibility of yet another loan move for Kenedy as Chelsea continue to pressure Lyon into releasing preferred choice Emerson.
