Chelsea ‘are negotiating a deal for Ousmane Dembele’ and may have already reached an agreement for the wantaway Barcelona star.
This is according to Spanish journalist Alfredo Martinez.
Barcelona want the winger to leave this January after failing to reach an agreement over a new deal with Dembele, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Barcelona signed Dembele for a fee believed to be around £135million, according to Daily Mail, in the summer of 2017 as a replacement for Neymar.
Martinez said, as per Daily Mail: “Everything indicates that Chelsea is the club that is negotiating and that they may even have something agreed with Dembele.”
Whether signing Dembele will be a good move for Chelsea is up for debate as the winger has suffered numerous injury problems in the last four years and also been criticised at times for a lack of commitment to training.
Dembele has only played six times in LaLiga this term and three times in the Champions League, failing to score in either competition.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Florent Malouda has urged Chelsea to sign Dembele.
Malouda said: “Adding players will depend on contract situations and what’s available. Ousmane Dembele is also interesting as he’s free in the summer, but would he suit the Premier League?
