Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen will be a free agent at the end of the season if no agreement is reached over extending his Chelsea contract.
With Christensen having less than six months left on his contract, the Denmark international can sign a pre-contract with a foreign club.
According to reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea haven’t offered the defender a new proposal after he rejected the last offer.
Romano also revealed Christensen won’t join another Premier League club out of respect for Chelsea if he leaves the club at the end of the season.
Romano tweeted: “It feels like there’s no chance for Andreas Christensen to accept any Premier League club proposal [as free agent]. He wants to respect Chelsea – but there’s still no agreement on new contract proposal.
“Barcelona and FC Bayern are interested in signing him.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea forward Timo Werner has claimed he would be sad to see Christensen leave the club at the end of the season.
“I’m not involved in the negotiations of these two players. I would be happy with both if they stayed here because they are very, very good defenders,” Werner told Sky Germany.
“You would give them away with a heavy heart if they left.”
