Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor Petr Cech has hailed the performance of Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.
The veteran Brazilian was signed as a 35-year-old free agent from Paris Saint-Germain, and not many believed that he’d still playing at a high level till now.
The 37-year-old remains a key player for Thomas Tuchel’s side, and it’s a surprise that only five outfield players have made more appearances for Chelsea in 2021/22 than Silva.
Cech has admitted that the club has been massively impressed by the performance of the Brazilian, and it’s no wonder that he was given an extra year to remain at the club.
“We are all impressed by Thiago. We always believed he would be exactly what he has become to us,” Cech admitted while writing for the club’s official website.
“He has proven it, and you can see what a great addition he has been.
“When you look at Thiago, you don’t see any differences between him playing 10 years ago and now. That’s the impressive part.”
