Losing Tariq Lamptey was a big hit for Chelsea, and the 21-year-old Cobham graduate has often showed Chelsea what they are missing whenever he plays against the Blues.
Against Chelsea at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday, Lamptey ran riot against Marcos Alonso, and his terrifying pace was a huge problem against the Spaniard.
Lamptey is now attracting huge interest from some top Premier League sides, and Joe Cole has given his take on the player he coached when he was in the Chelsea youth setup.
“Yeah, I coached him (Lamptey). He’s an outstanding young player, outstanding young kid as well,” said Cole on his former Chelsea pupil.
“One of those you will to do well because he works so hard and he’s such a talent. The only problem they’ve got here now is that the vultures are circling.
“The big clubs are looking at him because he’s come here and he’s been unbelievable from day one.
“It’s vital for Brighton to keep him because he’s such an important part to the way they play.”
